Movement

I have spent my life learning about the body in motion. I am classically trained in ballet, jazz, and modern technique, but my personal experiences with injury began my quest to understand how imbalances in our muscles, connective tissue, and nervous system can restrict our movement and predispose us to injury.

During the course of my investigations, I obtained certifications in Group Exercise (AFAA), Personal Training (ACSM), and Pilates Mat & Equipment (STOTT), and Zenga (Merrithew), and explored dozens of other techniques like TPT Therapy, Melt Method, and Muscle Activation Technique. I owned a Pilates studio for nearly a decade, where my focus was on evidence-based exercise, and my speciality as an instructor was working with post-rehab clients.

Today, in addition to biomechanically-informed ballet classes, I also teach my own amalgamated technique called Restorative Articulation, which uses the traditional structure of a classical ballet class but replaces rigid aesthetic dogma with science-informed exercises to help preserve and improve range of motion while building strength and minimizing pain. It is adaptable for everyone from expert movers to those just seeking a return to activities of daily living.

I also teach workshops specifically for artists in different fields, like the Restorative Rolling for Puppeteers session I offered at the PNW Regional Puppetry Conference.

I'm currently in the process of setting up new virtual courses and limited workshops in 2025. Interested in trying a class or want to learn more? Please subscribe to the mailing list or fill out the contact form below.
