Nuno Felting: Scarves and Cowls
A workshop in the nuno felting technique, no experience required!

Service Description
In this COVID-conscious, in-person workshop, we will learn the basics of the nuno felting technique, exploring how to blend silk and wool to create light but strong fabrics which drape like a dream! The workshop is limited to 8 participants, and will be held at Coyote North in Lake City, Seattle. We will keep the HEPA air cleaner running and masks on, KN94 or N95 please. (I'm happy to supply a mask for you, if needed!) If you have any concerns about the mask requirement or safety protocols, please contact me. The workshop is 3.5 hours total, in which time you will design, layout, felt, and finish your scarf or cowl. We will cover: - Selecting fabrics for the nuno technique - Planning the shape and style of your scarf or cowl - Accounting for shrinking to get a great fit - Adding interest with inclusions, felted balls, or spikes as well as any odds and ends that come up along the way, based on the interests of the participants! The workshop fee includes 3 oz of merino wool and a piece of silk gauze or chiffon approx. 20" x 72" (I will have a selection of colors on hand from which you can choose) and use of all the tools and other materials you need to complete your scarf or cowl. Just bring yourself, and perhaps a waterproof apron if want to make sure your clothes stay dry! *Please Note: Wet felting does require some physical exertion, mostly upper body effort. If you have any concerns, please reach out to me before registering.* I look forward to meeting you and making things together!
